Who is my neighbor?
About
Plesion [play-SEE-on]
Why this name?
In the biblical story of the Good Samaritan, a man asks Jesus, “Who is my neighbor?” Jesus responds with a parable about a traveler who is robbed, beaten, and left for dead along the side of a deserted road. Two individuals eventually pass him by, ignoring his desperate need for assistance. But then a Samaritan—someone from a different community and a different background—stops to help. The Samaritan bandages the injured man’s wounds, takes him to an inn, and pays for the cost of his stay at the inn.
In this parable, Jesus redefined “neighbor”—not as someone who lives next door, but as someone in need: Plesion. Plesion is the injured stranger on the side of the road. Plesion is the child who we have never met who is living without basic necessities. Plesion is the family whose story is not our own—but whose suffering matters deeply to us.
Because God came near to us, we go near to others. Because we have received grace, we extend it freely. Because every child and family matters, we will not walk past.

Meet Real Needs
“The kinship family was extremely appreciative of the clothing, toiletries, toys, bedding, and pre-cooked meals. All four children were placed at the last minute with relatives due to an emergency, so they were in need of everything.”

Provide Positive Outcomes
“The donations have provided a tremendous help in easing the stress of families financially, making children happy and providing a positive outcome.”

Give Stability, Dignity, and Hope
“Donations of clothing and food have a deeply meaningful impact on individuals and families in need. They help relieve the burden of basic necessities, allowing families to focus on other important aspects of life, such as work. These donations provide stability, dignity, and hope, reminding recipients that they are not alone and that their community cares.”
